An anamorphic video shows a Disney+ Star Wars series, the Book of Boba Fett, being watched on LG OLED which was was also used in post-production for the series.
LG Display has teamed up with The Walt Disney Studios to promote LG’s OLED technology together with Lucasfilm’s Disney+ Star Wars adventure series The Book of Boba Fett.
Lucasfilm’s visual effects division, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), utilised LG Display’s OLED devices to produce an anamorphic video, which has been shown on LG’s gigantic digital billboard overlooking New York City’s Times Square.
The video depicts the Disney+ series’ main protagonist Boba Fett as well as a viewer enjoying the series on an OLED TV.
Both Lucasfilm and ILM already incorporate multiple OLED displays and TVs into their everyday creative process, including post-production and final content review, for tasks ranging from the creation of motion graphics to meticulous colour grading.
“We actually made the LG OLED an imaging platform across all of the ILM studios across the world, as the LG OLED suits a lot of our use cases that we have in our virtual production, visual effects and live-action production workflows,” said Jeroen Schulte, principal colour and imaging architect at Lucasfilm.
