Anadol’s latest AI-driven NFT collection, ‘An Important Memory for Humanity, generates art from data taken from SpaceX Inspiration4, the first-orbital spaceflight with only private citizens aboard.
LG Display has collaborated with Turkish-American new media artist Refik Anadol to showcase his latest AI-driven NFT collection, ‘An Important Memory for Humanity,’ on its transparent OLED displays.
The limited-edition NFT collection utilises video, audio and health data taken from Inspiration4, the first-ever all-civilian spaceflight, to create a unique and expressive series of data visualizations.
LG’s transparent OLED panels are used for a holographic effect, making the digital art pieces appear to be floating in mid air.
The ‘An Important Memory for Humanity’ NFT art collection was recently auctioned off for $6.2 million, with 30% of the profits going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the buyer receiving the NFT collection on a transparent OLED panel.
This marks Anadol’s second time collaborating with LG Display, following his Machine Hallucations: Nature Dreams exhibit which used transparent OLED as a canvas for imagery based on real-time environmental data.
