Seven officers at one station have been trained to answer general enquires using VR headsets and there are plans to expand the scope of the service and spread it to remaining police stations.
Ajman City in the United Arab Emirates has launched a virtual police service in the metaverse.
Members of the public will be able to ask questions of the police and receive answers without needing to use the real-world service.
According to reports in the regional press, Seven police officers have been trained in the use of VR glasses and headsets and the service has already been tested locally.
The metaverse service began as a trial at the Al Nuaimaiah police station but officers will now continue to meet residents virtually and the service will be expanded to all police stations in the city. The service is currently limited to general enquiries but will be expanded in scope.
